Bosnia-based cement producer Fabrika Cementa Lukavac is set to export 30,000t of cement to Libya by the end of the year, local media said on Wednesday.

The first two trains with 1258t of cement are on the way to the final destination, with 4500-5000t in total to be sent this week, news portal eKapija.ba said. The cement will be delivered with trains through Bosnia and Croatia and then via Croatia’s port Luka Ploce to the northern African country.

It seems likely that consumption in Libya due to long-term reconstruction requirements could reach as much as 0.8Mt per month for several years, ie, 9.6Mta, closue to nominal national capacity and well above its typical level of around 60 per cent of capacity utilisation.
