Cementos Cienfuegos SA in Cuba established a record clinker production of 1.024Mt – some 0.2Mt more than recorded in the previous four years, according to Alina Atauri Cid, the plant’s director.
“Achieving this goal is a contribution to the country and reflects the effort, commitment and dedication of the staff working at the factory,” she said.
She added that estimated production at end-2013 is expected to be around 1.075Mt.
Founded in 1975 as the Karl Max Cement Plant, the Cienfuegos works was changed in 2001 to Mixed Company Cementos Cienfuegos SA. The new format is expected to allow the factory to modernise its lines and reach its design clinker capacity of 1.5Mta.
