Grey cement production in Colombia during November 2013 totalled 1.02Mt, a 9.6 per cent increase when compared with the same month of the previous year.
In addition, the domestic cement market expanded by 6.9 per cent to 978,000t. This was less than the 14 per cent consumption growth noted in October.
Norte de Santander saw a 38.5 per cent rise, the largest in the country, followed by Antioquia (+13.7 per cent), Bolívar (+19.5 per cent) and Cundinamarca (+8.6 per cent). On the other hand, Córdoba, Nariño and Boyacá noted the largest falls in demand – by 32.8, 11.9 and 7.5 per cent, respectively. The capital of Bogotá also saw its market contract by 5.7 per cent.
