Pakistan export volumes and revenues fall in 7MFY14

Pakistan’s export volumes fell 7.5 per cent YoY in the first seven months of the current Pakistan fiscal, while revenues were also down 13 per cent over the same period.

During the July 2013-January 2014 period, the country exported 4.85Mt of cement on revenues of US$295.52m compared to 5,243Mt at US$340.57m in the comparative period of the year before. The average export price of cement fell by 6.18 per cent to US$60.93/t from US$64.94/t in the seven month period of the previous fiscal,

On a more positive note, December exports increased by 11.09 and 12.73 per cent in terms of volume and value to 558,142t and US$37.06m, respectively, on a MoM basis. Compared with January 2014 data, exports declined marginally by 0.67 per cent in terms of quantity but rose 2.23 per cent in value.

 Sales to Afghanistan, the main market for Pakistan exports, fell by 14.39 per cent YoY to 2.26Mt. Exports to India were down also by 0.31 per cent to 240,839t. However, volumes to overseas markets increased by 18 per cent YoY.
