Uzbekistan has seen the official launch of a US$116m cement plant in Jizzakh oblast, which will add to the country’s grey and white cement production capabilities.
The greenfield works, based in the Zafarabad area, has a grey capacity of 0.76Mta, plus 0.35Mta of white cement. Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex (AMC) set up a joint venture with JSC Uzstroymaterialy in July 2012 and construction of the new facility began in April 2013.
