PT Semen Padang, part of the Semen Indonesia group of companies, has launched construction of Line No 6 at its plant in Indarung, just outside the city of Padang in West Sumatra, Indonesia.
The new 8000tpd line, the main contract for which was awarded to FLSmdith in December last year, is expected to commence operations in the second half of 2016.
State-Owned Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan, West Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno, PT Semen Indonesia CEO Dwi Soetjipto and PT Semen Padang CEO Munadi Arifin officially launched the groundbreaking ceremony.
Expansion by the group is being carried out to serve growing demand across Sumatra and western parts of Java.
Presently, PT Semen Padang has four lines at the Indarung site (Indarung II , III , IV & V) with a capacity of 6.5Mta, as well as a 1Mta grinding mill in Dumai which was scheduled for completion in 2Q14. The launch of operations at Indarung VI will increase the company’s total capacity to 10.5Mta.
