Indonesian cement demand in the first nine months of 2014 rose by 3.4 per cent YoY to 42.993Mt, latest data from the Indonesia Cement Association (ASI) reveals.
Strong gains have been seen in the past months. During September alone, sales increased by 5.7 per cent to 5.632Mt, compared to 5.329Mt in the same month of last year.
However, while the the fourth quarter is traditionally strong as large-scale projects need to be completed by year-end, industry commentators caution that demand may be hampered by present political uncertainties and the start of the rainy season.
