Portland and blended cement shipments in the US and Puerto Rico reached 75.8Mt in the first 10 months of the year, preliminary figures from the US Geological Survey show. Of the total, imports accounted for 6.17Mt.
In October, total shipments were 9.57Mt, comprising 8.76Mt of domestic dispatches and 807,530t of imports. Amongst the larger states, cement shipments increased in October in Southern Texas (+34 per cent), Northern Texas (+21 per cent), Michigan (+17 per cent), Georgia (+11 per cent), Florida (+10 per cent), New York (+10 per cent), Northern California (+3 per cent) and Southern California (+1 per cent), but declined in Arizona (-1 per cent) and South Carolina (-10 per cent).
The preliminary data are subject to change and the USGS will publish the full monthly report in approximately two weeks.
