Vietnam’s cement sales rose six per cent YoY to 34.16Mt in the first half of this year, meeting 47.4 per cent of the year’s plan, the Vietnam Building Material Association under the Ministry of Construction said.
Of the volume, 25.97Mt were sold at the domestic market, up six per cent YoY and 8.19Mt were exported, the Thoi Bao Kinh Te Vietnam newspaper reported, citing the association.
In June, the country’s domestic cement sales fell 12 per cent from May but were up 13 per cent from the same month of last year to 4.63Mt. Cement and clinker exports also dropped 58 per cent MoM but rose 10 per cent YoY to 1.05Mt.
The Ministry of Construction predicted Vietnam’s sales of cement and clinker to rise 1.5-4 per cent YoY to between 72-74Mt in 2015, of which domestic sales are forecast to rise 4.5-6.5 per cent (to reach 53-54Mt) and exports are expected to be around the 19-20Mt mark.
