Competition has forced Zambezi Portland Cement (ZPC) to introduce a new and cheaper cement brand onto the domestic market.
The arrival of Dangote Cement in Zambia with its greenfield Masaiti plant has seen cement prices tumble from ZMW70 (US$6.93) to ZMW50 (US$4.95) in a few months.
ZPC’s new cement is aimed at the block-making, road construction and light construction market. The price of the new Eagle cement brand will be held at ZMW51.
