The Indonesian Cement Association (ASI), is confident that sales will rise by 4-5 per cent beginning in September until December 2015. This optimism, according to association Widodo Santoso, is based on information that the million-house project as well as infrastructure projects outside Java have commenced.
"An increase of four per cent is relatively easy to achieve. Last year, we didn't have infrastructure development outside Java," local press quoted him as saying on Monday. The ASI estimates that cement consumption will increase by six per cent over the previous period's 5.63Mt.
JP Morgan’s Indonesian cement research team believes that September data will give an indication of how trends in 4Q15 – 1Q16 are likely to be and forecasts seven per cent growth in FY-2016.
