Vietnam is estimated to have produced 50.6Mt of cement in the first eight months of 2016, a 15.2 per cent increase from the same period last year, according the the government-run General Statistics Office. Cement output in August is expected to climb 13.1 per cent to 6.5Mt compared to August 2015.
Following China, India, Iran and the US, Vietnam is the fifth-largest cement producer in the world. It operates 76 production lines with a combined output of 81.56Mta.
Vietnam is currently facing an excess of supply compared to demand, which is predicted to continue for the foreseeable future. However, the Ministry of Construction has forecast that the country’s cement and clinker sales will rise between four and seven per cent YoY to 75-77Mt, despite economic struggles.
