Roanoke Cement Co’s Richmond site in Virginia, has been awarded admission to US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)’s Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Programme (SHARP). SHARP recognises small business employers who have succeeded with operating exemplary injury and illness prevention.

Admission to SHARP highlights individual sites as a model for worksite safety and health. This achievement is especially important for Roanoke’s Richmond site and the state of Virginia as the number of workplace-related deaths this year in the Commonwealth of Virginia has already surpassed the number of fatalities recorded in both 2014 and 2015.

"We are proud that of the 19 work sites, three are Roanoke Cement terminals including Front Royal, Norfolk, and Richmond," says David Brinkley, director of distribution for Roanoke Cement.
