Russia’s Eurocement and Uzbekistan’s Uzqurilishmateriallari have signed a letter of intent (LoI) to build a cement plant in Uzbekistan.
The new 2.4Mta works is expected to raise Eurocement’s production capacity in the country to 4.2Mta by 2020, according to Eurocement President Mikhail Skorokhod.
“Besides construction of the cement plant, we are also discussing projects to upgrade the line for production of magnesia bricks and innovative construction materials, which will be sold not only in the Republic of Uzbekistan, but also in the neighbouring countries, including Russia,” Mr Skorokhod said.
At present Eurocement owns a 83.92 per cent stake in the 1.8Mta Akhangarancement plant in Uzbekistan.
