Cement producers in Peru have started to feel the impact of El Niño, according to Credicorp Capital.
Between January and March, cement dispatches have fallen seven per cent. Cementos Pacasmayo is expected to see the highest drop in volumes even though its plant has not been damaged by the landslides. Lower construction activity is envisaged to affect Pacasmayo revenues by 10 per cent in the first quarter.
While Unacem continues to ship cement from its Atocongo works, demand is expected to be weaker in 1Q17.
