Ambuja Cement announced it has launched its composite cement, Ambuja Compocem, to the Indian markets of Bihar and Jharkhand. The LafargeHolcim company said in a statement that its Chhattisgarh facility has become is first cement plant in India to develop a composite cement after rigorous research over the last year and a half.

The new offering is a combination of cement, flyash and slag. Speaking at the launch of the product, Ajay Kapur, MD and CEO of Ambuja Cement, said: "Ambuja Compocem is yet another breakthrough product innovation from Ambuja Cement. We are proud that this product was developed in our laboratory by the product and development and innovation team. The introduction of Ambuja Compocem reiterates our strong comittment to creating products that help in sustainable construction."

The company said that the product caters to all segments, ie, individual house builders as well as large real estate and infrastructure projects in India. "With this, Ambuja Cement has addressed two vital aspects from a customer's perspective – offering higher compressive strength and long-term durability," Mr Kapur added.
