As part of its Health & Safety policy, LafargeHolcim Côte d'Ivoire will carry out alcohol breathalyser tests to protect plant personnel and visitors from associated risk factors in the workplace.
The regular but random spot checks will be carried by security agents using an electronic breathalyser at the entrance to sites. Persons displaying a positive reading of more than 0.01mg/l will be dealt with according to the company's internal procedures to prevent any potential alcohol-related accidents occurring.
The new measure, effective 15 May 2017, was initiated after the company noted several breaches of a rule prohibiting alcohol in the workplace.
A spokesperson for LafargeHolcim Côte d'Ivoire commented: “Health & Safety...is our number one priority. That is why we do our utmost to ensure that every employee, visitor, sub-contractor and, more generally, anyone with a connection or contact with our activities can return home safely.”
