Peru’s cement demand reached 774,000t in May, reflecting a two per cent drop YoY, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. Total deliveries, including exports, decreased 2.8 per cent to 797,000t. Domestic production in May fell 6.4 per cent YoY to 781,000t.
Going forward, cement demand is expected to pick up by the implementation of reconstruction works following the Niño Costero damage and infrastructure megaprojects. As a result, 2H17 consumption is forecast to rise five per cent YoY.
