Cemex USA has launched operations at a new rail-served cement distribution terminal in Commerce City, Colorado. The new terminal will support the company’s distribution capabilities across Colorado, but particularly to the Denver Metro area.
The terminal is served by an existing rail line out of the Lyons cement plant. With a silo capacity of 5000t, it supplies Type II Portland cement used in concrete, precast and masonry products for a variety of construction projects throughout the state, including large infrastructure projects.
Operations began at the terminal on 21 September 2017. With the addition of the Denver facility, Cemex now has a footprint across the state of Colorado, from its Lyons plant in the north, through Denver, to its Florence Cement Terminal in the south.
Our customers in Denver have been requesting a more convenient way to pick up our products, and the new distribution terminal in Commerce City delivers on that," said Juan Castillo, VP Commercial -- South Central Region at Cemex.
