A US$500m cement plant is expected to be set up near the Lusaka South Multi-facility Economic Zone (LS-MFEZ). The plant will help in boost development at the zone through provision of cement in line with the requirements of industry and infrastructure under construction in the area.
LS-MFEZ Acting Managing Director, Mukela Lubasi, said on Monday that with the ongoing developments at MFEZ, it is necessary that cement plants are closer to the project to cut down on production costs. The LS-MFEZ zone is being developed on 2100ha of land and has already attracted investment of US$758m from cpmanies wishing to set up in the multi-facility economic zone.
