Vietnam is likely to have produced 7.2Mt of cement in January, which fell 5.8 per cent from December 2017 but rose 29.7 per cent from a year earlier, according to latest data from the government-run General Statistics Office.
In 2017, Vietnam made 85.4Mt of cement, including 7.6Mt in December, according to the revised figure.
The country now has 82 cement production lines with a combined capacity of 97.64Mta.The Vietnam Cement Association (VNCA) has warned that Vietnam will face a glut of between 25Mt and 36Mt of cement by 2020 as domestic production has outstripped the real demand.
