Diamond Cement to be visited by the EPA after environmental concerns
16 February 2018

Officers of the Environmental Protection Agency in Accra are expected to visit Diamond Cement Factory and the area of Aflao Duta in Ghana on Friday 16 February, because the land surface of Agbawoeme, Duta and Agorbiakorpe is heavily polluted with cement dust.

Local residents have complained about their crops being affected and no access to clean water. The cement factory has already been called upon to supply piped water to communities within its catchment area. While water to some communities has been received and some pipes have been constructed, other residents are still waiting for direct water supplies.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Ketu South, Elliot Agbenorwu, has vowed to ensure that potable water is supplied to the residents by the factory within the shortest possible time.
