Montcada Municipality files appeal against LafargeHolcim plant environmental permit

The Municipality of Montcada i Reixac, Spain, has filed an appeal with the Supreme Court of Catalonia against the renewal of the environmental permit of the LafargeHolcim plant located in the municipality. Reasons for the appeal have not been disclosed.

The cement producer received a renewed authorisation from the Department of Environment and Sustainability on 12 December 2017.

Last year, the plant produced 0.5Mt of cement, representing a capacity utilisation rate of less than 50 per cent.
