Spain’s Ministry of Environment has approved the expansion of the Mataporquera quarry, submitted by Cementos Alfa.
With the approval the life of the quarry, where Cementos Alfa exploits some 0.6Mta of limestone and marl reserves for cement production, has been extended for a new period of 30 years.
The expansion of the operations covers an area of 77.49ha of land, owned by the municipalities of Valdeolea and Valdeprado del Rio. The concession includes 11 mining grids and some 336ha at confluence of Cantabria and Castilla y León.
