The Battambang Conch Cement Co Ltd inaugurated its US$230m plant in Battambang province, Cambodia, on Thursday. The facility was constructed within 18 months and is expected to have a total production capacity of 5000tpd, according to the Phnom Penh Post.
"Our cement factory, together with others in the industry, can supply the market’s needs and compete with imported cement on quality and price," said Vinh Hour, company CEO.
While cement currently costs US$90/t, Mr Hour was optimistic that the price will decrease to US$75/t with the increase in domestic supply.
The inauguration of this plant brings the total number of operational production facilities in the country to four. A further two, Thai Boon Rong Cement and Southern Cement, are in the construction phase.
