Anhui Tongling Conch Cement Co Ltd was required to suspend operations of a cargo pier in late May, according to a notice jointly issued by the Tongling Environmental Protection Bureau and Tongling Port and Shipping (Local Maritime) Bureau, China.
Since the pier is an important channel for the shipping of cement and clinker products as well as the delivery of raw coal to the company’s cement plant, its suspension has resulted in a temporary halt at three of Tongling Conch’s clinker lines. The closed lines account for 58 per cent of the company’s 15Mta clinker capacity, according to ET Net News.
The Tongling municipal government is actively coordinating with relevant departments and aims to restore operation of the Tongling Conch Pier as soon as possible.
