Dangote has sold 0.332Mt of cement from its 1.5Mta cement plant in Douala, Cameroon, in the first quarter of 2018 according to the Nigeria-based cement producer.
The company attributes its sales to increased brand awareness, additional sales outlets and improved marketing strategies. Dangote Cement estimates its 1Q market share at 44 per cent, slightly up when compared with the 1Q17.
Total cement demand in Cameroon stood at 0.76Mt in 1Q18, according to the company. Infrastructure projects such as the news sports stadiums, hotels and hospitals built in anticipation of the 2018 African Football Nations Cup have increased the demand for cement.
