Cem‘In’EU Group inaugurated its first modular grinding plant at Aliénor Ciments yesterday in Tonneins, 100km southeast of Bordeaux, France. The 0.22-0.25Mta plant is the first of a network of grinding units that the group aims to construct in France, Poland and the UK.

Intercem Engineering of GmbH of Oelde in Germany constructed the 30tph ball mill section of the plant in just four months. The mill is equipped with a separator that was also specially designed by Intercem Engineering. The plant is CE approved and has an on-site laboratory featuring Ametek equipment.

There are also six silos onsite for cement storage with a capacity of 500t. The EUR30m plant is supplied with a railway siding that connects it to the main Toulouse-Bordeaux railway line. The facility also features two automated truck loading bays for bulk deliveries and a packaging plant. The truck automation, process control and electrical control was supplied by Ibitec of France.

It is the first plant in France to have a Haver & Boecker Adams bagging machine, while Newtec palletising equipment and an OMS stretch hood wrapper complete the bagging line.

Production will begin with the manufacture of CEM II 42.5R and CEMII 42.5N, but Aliénor Ciments will expand its range of cement over the next year to include further CEMII cements and CEMI products.

ICR will report in more detail on Aliénor Ciments in its January 2019 issue.
