Afghanistan's government has taken back control of the Ghori Cement Factory. The Afghan Investment Co that was running the plant was held in violation of the law and decisions of the high economic council and the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum (MOMP) has ordered the company to hand over the plant.
MOMP said the plant has the capacity to produce only 420t of cement and that the private company also violated its commitment to invest on a third plant.
Afghan Investment Co officials have said that the company allocated over 1600 jobs to the people and it also increased production capacity of the plant to 1400tpd of cement.
