UTD Cement, a joint venture of two Germany-based companies and a private investor, will build a US$400m cement plant in Farishky district, Jizzakh, Uzbekistan.
Construction of the new 4Mta works will take place in 2019-21 on a 74ha plot. The plant will provide employment for 1500 people.
In terms of output, plans are for the production of 0.98Mt of M500 cement, 1.22Mt of M600 cement, 0.94Mt of M900 product and 0.86Mt of white cement.
According to a resolution of the country’s Cabinet of Ministers, UTD Cement is established by UTD-Holding, which is founded by Phoenix Consulting GmbH and Medianet inh M Hermsen. The resolution does not disclose the third founder of the holding company.
The decree also instructs to issue a licence to carry out a geological limestone study at the Almaz-1 site in the district. Furthermore, the company is exempt from income tax and property tax until 1 January 2025 after the start of production. For the period of the plant construction, but no later than 1 January 2022, it is also exempt from paying customs duties, VAT, fees, state duties and mandatory certification procedures.
