Peru-based Cemento Yura SA has reached the 3Mt sales mark for the first time in its 56-year history, reports Asocem, the country’s cement association. The company attributes its success to its staff and customers as well as strategic partners such as Rationalización Empresarial Raciemsa, Concretos Supermix and Cal y Cement Sur – all part of Yura’s parent company, Grupo Gloria.
“At Yura we are very proud to dispatch 3Mt because those three million tons have turned into many millions of dreams come true: houses, roofs, constructions, schools, buildings, bridges; infrastructure that improves the quality of life of all Peruvians. Three million tonnes is more than 100,000 trucks that, if we put them one behind the other, would be a queue of 2400km. To give you an idea, it would go from here, the Yura plant, to Guayaquil, or it would go from the Yura plant to Santiago de Chile. Dispatching 3Mt of cement would be equivalent to dispatching 70.5m bags. If we put them next to each other, it would go around the Equator 2.7 times on Earth. Today we are celebrating not only 3Mt, but 3m dreams come true," said Kevin Delgado, Cemento Yura's commercial assistant manager.
