FIDEtechnology, a pioneering start-up dedicated to decarbonising the construction industry, has introduced its revolutionary Low Carbon (LC) Grinding Mill to the cement sector. The debut of the LC Mill prototype occurred at the prestigious Innovandi annual technology and research gathering hosted by the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. The event, attended by 450 delegates from 35 leading global cement companies and academic institutions, centred on the vital topic of achieving decarbonisation in cement and concrete production by 2050.

Raju Goyal, executive president and chief technical officer at UltraTech Cement Ltd, hailed FIDEtechnology's LC Mill as a "game changer" for the grinding industry, asserting that it will propel the race towards achieving net-zero emissions.

Karen Scrivener, the Innovandi scientific chair and eminent cement expert, expressed EPFL's pride in showcasing yet another disruptive and innovative concept, the FIDEtechnology LC Mill, and pledged support for its scaling up to significantly contribute to the journey towards achieving net-zero emissions. EPFL commissioned the first FIDEtechnology LC Mill in 2023.

Davide Zampini, Innovandi industrial chair and VP of Global Research Development at CEMEX, emphasised the imperative of collaboration beyond the industry to realise the ambitious goal of net-zero concrete production by 2050.

The CEOs of FIDEtechnology echoed their excitement about the enthusiastic response from the cement industry, affirming, "We are thrilled by the overwhelming enthusiasm and encouragement from the cement industry for this disruptive grinding concept. This response marks a significant stride towards realising our vision of rapidly decarbonising the construction industry."
