India-based Barak Valley Cements has reported consolidated total revenue of INR709.5m (US$8.5m) in the quarter ended 31 March 2024, up from INR616.1m in the same period a year earlier. A net loss of INR11.7m was seen in the 2024 quarter, compared to a profit of INR12.8m in the quarter ended 31 March 2023.
Total expenses over the same time frame advanced from INR584.4m to INR685.5m, driven primarily by the cost of materials consumed. Basic earnings per share declined from INR0.58 in the March 2023 quarter to a loss of INR0.53 a year later.
In the year ended 31 March 2023, the company posted consolidated total revenue of INR2376.2m, marking an advance from INR1841m in the year ended 31 March 2023. The net profit of INR52.2m seen in the year ended 31 March 2023 improved to a profit of INR72.5m a year later, while total expenses expanded from INR1761.5m to INR2249.7m over the same time frame, driven by an almost doubling of cost of materials consumed. Basic earnings per share increased from INR2.26 in 2023 to INR3.27 in 2024.
