Cement deliveries in Morocco by APC members – Asment Témara, Ciments de l’Atlas, Ciments du Maroc, LafargeHolcim Maroc and Novacim – increased by 20 per cent to 1,426,978t in May 2024 from 1,189,112t in May 2023, according to Morocco's Ministry of National Planning, Urban Planning and Housing.

Of this total, 807,246t was delivered to the retail segment, up 9.1 per cent YoY from 739,639t in May 2023, and 334,609t was supplied to the ready-mix concrete sector, a 50.3 per cent hike when compared with 222,665t dispatched in May 2023. Cement volumes to the prefabricated segment increased by 16.9 per cent YoY to 132,892t in May 2024 from 113,673t. In the building sector, deliveries were up 9.4 per cent YoY to 51,125t from 46,713t in May 2023. The infrastructure segment continued to be a significant part of cement market growth as deliveries advanced 39.7 per cent to 92,804t in May 2024 from 66,424t in May 2023. In addition, 8302t were supplied to the mortar segment.

January-May 2024
In the January-May 2024 period 5,529,927t of cement were delivered in Morocco, representing a 7.3 per cent increase YoY from 5,153,388t in the 5M23.

Over the five-month period, retail deliveries edged up by 0.9 per cent YoY to 3,182,332t from 5,155,212t in the 5M23. Dispatches to the ready-mix concrete sector saw robust growth of 19.5 per cent YoY to 1,232,401t in the 5M24 from 1,030,988t. While the prefabricated segment saw a 6.5 per cent YoY increase to 529,021t in 5M24 from 496,698t, supplied volumes to the building sector were down by 13 per cent YoY to 181,497t in the 5M24 from 108,544t. Dispatches to the infrastructure continued to perform strongly, increasing by 43.2 per cent YoY to 375,108t in the 5M24 from 261,947t. A total of 29,568t of cement was delivered to the mortar segment.
