Liberian-based cement producer Cemenco has been connected to the Liberia Electricity Corp (LEC) grid, making it the public utility company’s largest customer, reports Energy Capital Power. The ceremony, which took place is Monrovia earlier this month, marked the signing of the agreement between LEC and Cemenco, designed to reduce production costs for the cement manufacturer. Cemenco will be connected through a 1km-long 22kV voltage line to the Stockton Creek substation.

Commenting on the agreement, William Ph Gaingard, managing director of Cemenco, said, “It is undeniable that this agreement goes beyond the simple supply of electricity. Cemenco, as a priority partner, must play a key role in obtaining the supply of cement and ready-mixed concrete for all LEC players, with qualitative and quantitative offers but also with the best financial solutions.”
