India-based Dalmia Bharat announced a INR35.2bn (US$403m) investment in Maharashtra and Karnataka, funded by a combination of debt and internal accruals. The new capacity is expected to come online by the 4QFY26-27.

The company will build a 3.6Mta clinker plant and a 3Mta grinding unit at its existing Belgaum (Belagavi) plant in Karnataka as well as a 3Mta split grinding unit at a greenfield site in Pune, Maharashtra. The new capacity will increase the company’s cement capacity to 55.5Mta, following the ongoing expansion of the 2.9Mta of capacity at Assam and Bihar.

The Karnataka grinding unit will supply the underserved southern Maharashtra markets while improving market penetration in the existing region. Meanwhile, the Pune plant will enable Dalmia Bharat to enter the western Maharashtra market.

The investment is part of the company’s vision to be a pan-India cement supplier and achieve 75Mta capacity by FY27-28 and 110-130Mta by 2031.
