Shree Cement East, part of Shree Cement, has started commercial production of its clinker grinding unit at Nigh Hasanpur, Etah, Uttar Pradesh, India.

The new clinker grinding unit has a cement capacity of 3Mta and will be one of the largest grinding units in region. The project, funded through internal accruals, represents an investment of INR8.5bn (US$99.3m) and is expected to generate more than 500 direct and indirect jobs.

The new grinding unit will feature air-cooled screw compressors to minimise water consumption, zero-waste operations and advanced dust control. The plant is also collaborating with the nearby Jawaharpur thermal power plant to use all of Jawaharpur’s fly ash – approximately 5000tpd - in the production of cement. A solar plant is also planned within the next 2-3 years.

Neeraj Akhoury, MD of Shree Cement, said, “At Shree Cement, we are committed to supporting Uttar Pradesh's rapid infrastructure and housing development. Our manufacturing units also contribute to a sustainable future for local communities by creating job opportunities, establishing educational facilities and improving infrastructure.”
