Construction sector CO2 emissions see first halt since 2020 but challenges remain

The ‘global status Report for Buildings and Construction 2024-25 – Not just another brick in the wall’ by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has found that 2024 was the first year since the Paris Agreement (2015) when continued growth of the building construction sector was decoupled from associated sector greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, which have previously remained level.
