Cemex has announced the appointment of Alejandro Ramirez as its new president for the South, Central America and Caribbean (SCA&C) region as part of a planned leadership transition.

Mr Ramirez will continue to serve as president of Cemex in Colombia and Peru under his new regional role. Additionally he will have responsibility for the strategic direction of operations in Colombia, Bahamas, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico and Trinidad.

The new regional president defined four priorities in his management: to ensure the safety and health of all employees and people who interact with the company; to strengthen the value and service offering for customers; to promote the climate action strategy aimed at the decarbonisation goals set for 2030 and 2050; and to promote innovation and the development of new solutions.

Mr Ramirez said: "I assume this new position with enormous gratitude, for the trust placed in me by the company. As the new president of the SCA&C region, I intend to generate the greatest possible value for our stakeholders. To achieve this, we will work tirelessly to be our clients' best partner, driving innovative solutions and maintaining a focus on efficiency.

Mr Ramirez's trajectory at Cemex exceeds two decades, including executive positions in several regions across Asia and Latin America. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico, and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.
