The fifth Cemtech Asia Conference and Exhibition took place over 15-18 June 2014, in the heart of the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, once again providing a significant opportunity for senior cement industry specialists to learn more on the very latest regional market trends and technology advances.
Held within the stylish five-star surroundings of the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur and set against the stunning backdrop of the iconic Petronas Towers, the annual regional meeting succeeded in attracting over 200 delegates from 30 countries, all keen to pool information from the comprehensive two-day speaker programme and accompanying international exhibition.
First-class presenters – hand-picked from the world’s leading industry experts, cement producers and consultancies – provided insights into the cement market and trade developments as well as detailed recent upgrade projects, greenfield plant completions and new technologies successfully implemented in the region. Among the many programme highlights were comprehensive and informative presentations from Morgan Stanley (UK), Lafarge Asia (Malaysia), ACC (India) and Siam Cement Group (Thailand) to name a few.
Technical content covered the entire production process and focussed on case studies by leading cement industry innovators and suppliers on plant optimisation techniques, ways to improve efficiency and successful sustainability strategies for Asian cement producers.
Opportunities to share experiences and know-how were plentiful and mainly centred around the bustling international exhibition area, which featured some of the industry’s leading equipment and service providers.
Participants were able to enjoy Cemtech's warm and extensive hospitality throughout the event. Sightseeing tours to some of KL's most popular landmarks and attractions were arranged for accompanying partners, enabling them to learn more about Malaysia’s rich heritage. Lunches and evening receptions gave delegates the opportunity to network in relaxed surroundings and culminated in a four-course Gala Dinner packed with music and entertainment, including enchanting traditional Malaysian dances which captured the eclectic culture of the country.
New for 2014, a series of three training workshops on cement manufacturing technology were held after the close of the main Cemtech proceedings over 18-20 June 2014. Led by Dr Michael Clark, renowned technical consultant and training specialist, these classroom-based workshops covered major themes, including plant optimisation, production of low-CO2 cements and options for alternative fuel utilisation.
With another successful meeting under its wing, Cemtech Asia has firmly established itself as a unique and exceptional platform for cement industry experts to share their innovations, knowledge and insight, both on a regional and global scale. We look forward to returning to Asia once again in 2015.
