I also stand to  what Mr Jatin says , that there is no sure technic that breaks balls in kilns.

Dear All,

I liked the views of  Vikpro.

I too experienced severe problem of ring formation in Le-Pol Kiln burning zone area.for about 10 days.We tried to change the raw mix composition, addition of sandstone in small dosage through Burner pipe and firing a bullet shots, but all in vain.

The problem got solved the moment we received fresh supply of coal.On analysis it was found that the coal which was used was having low fusion characteristics ash and some complex utechtic was forming in burning zone leading to ring formation.

In one of the kilns of Lafarge I have seen holes with caps along the periphery of Kiln and I was told that they are used for dislodging ring with air canons as and when situations arise.

Every Kiln is a unique system and hence solution to problem will also be unique.

Dear Mr Bhaskar,

My plant also gets disturbed all of a sudden without any visible changes in the material or etc and we sometime break our head to find out reason for such mis  behaviour of kiln but in vain..My interest started when you said about the fresh supply of coal and its behaviour.I think my plant also behaving because of the change while receiving the new consignment of coal. Now my question is how to analyze coal charachterisics. I am mostly worried about the high temperature of bottom cyclones which is located after the   the pre calciner and ends in the kiln inlet.
