Vietnam sees exports rise 14% in 2020

Vietnam exported over 3.6Mt of cement and clinker worth US$135m in December 2020, up 15.3 per cent MoM in volume and 10.8 per cent YoY in value, according to the General Department of Customs. Stocks of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose 9.8 per cent after the company announced it will be entering the aggregate business. Cement makers in Bangladesh have pleaded for a loan moratorium until the end of June 2021. Bangladesh's cement industry has earned export revenue of US$2.82m in the five-month period of July-November 2020 (5MFY20-21), compared to US$4.08m in the year-ago period, a fall of 30.9 per cent YoY. LafargeHolcim Bangladesh has launched its Holcim Water project, a customised solution of water-resistant cement for the local cement market.
