First clinker produced from new Tula line

On 2 July 2017, Fives produced the first clinker from Cementos Fortaleza's new 3300tpd production line in Tula, Mexico. This completion follows the successful start-up of the two cement grinding plants equipped with FCB Horomill® in December and January.

Mexico: Elementia plans 1.5Mta expansion

Mexico’s Elementia conglomerate announced it will invest US$250m to expand capacity at its Atotonilco de Tula plant in Hidalgo, operated by Cementos Fortaleza. Following completion of the project in 2017, the plant will have a capacity of 3.5Mta. In 1Q15, Elementia saw its revenues increase to MXN4070m, up 12 per cent YoY as its cement division registered 26 per cent growth.

Lafarge has agreed the sale of its wholly-owned Russian subsidiary Uralcement to Buzzi Unicem for EUR104m and the proceeds will be used to reduce Lafarge's net debt. Mexico: Cementos Fortaleza plant to be inaugurated next week

Mexichem, Elementia and Lafarge will inaugurate the first plant of Cementos Fortaleza on Tuesday, 8 July 2014. The event will be led by Mexico’s president, Enrique Peña Nieto, and Carlos Slim Helú, head of Grupo Carso. The new works is located in Santiago de Anaya, Hidalgo, and is expected to produce 2Mta. Cementos Fortaleza is a strategic alliance between Elementia, which holds 53 per cent of shares, and Lafarge, which holds the balance.
