Russian metals and resource company, Mechel OAO, announced it has signed a contract for the supply of 2-3Mt of thermal coal to Tangshan Jidong Cement Co. Shandong Shanshui Cement has managed to turn its losses into profit following a year of defaulting on debts after a battle for control of the company. The construction of Mortal Investments Manufacturing Co’s US$10m plant in Redcliff, Zimbabwe, has been completed. The Chinese investor begun construction of the new plant in August after purchasing a 100,000m 2 plot of land. The Taiwan Cement Corporation has said that it expects to ship 1.1Mt of cement to China in the first quarter of 2017, an increase of two per cent on its performance in 1Q16, the Taipei Times reports. Dewan Cement Ltd (DCL) posted a net profit of PKR268m (US$2.55m) for the quarter ended 30 September, a 61.4 per cent increase YoY from the PKR166m registered last year.
