Ciment du Maroc reports 5% rise in turnover

HeidelbergCement Group -owned Ciments du Maroc posted a five per cent increase in turnover to MAD1.8bn (US$170.7m) in the 2Q22 from MAD1.7bn in the 2Q21. In addition, the company increased its investments by 195 per cent YoY to MAD160m as a result of the construction of its 0.7Mta Nador plant in northern Morocco. The facility is expected to come on-stream in the 3Q22.

July deliveries drop 30% in Morocco

Cement deliveries by members of Morocco’s cement association, AFCP, declined by 29.8 per cent in July 2022 to 630,479t from 898,429t in July 2021, according to Ipsos. The data is the aggregate delivery volume of Asment Temera, Cements de l’Atlas, Ciments du Maroc and LafargeHolcim Maroc. In the first seven months of 2022, cement deliveries by APC members fell 7.4 per cent YoY to 7.137Mt from 7.708Mt in the 7M21.

Morocco’s cement deliveries see 10% drop in June

Cement deliveries by APC members in Morocco declined 9.8 per cent to 1,229,636t in June 2022 when compared with June 2021, when deliveries reached 1,363,579t, according to Ipsos. Deliveries in the first six months of 2022 saw a drop of 4.7 per cent to 6,505,973t from 6,809,696t in the 6M21. APC members are Asment Temara, Ciments de l’Atlas, Ciments du Maroc, LafargeHolcim Maroc.

Moroccan deliveries up 7% in May

Cement deliveries in Morocco increased 7.1 per cent YoY to 945,706t in May 2022 from 882,785t in May 2021, according to Ipsos. The data relates to APC members Asment Temera, Ciments de l’Atlas, Ciments du Maroc and LafargeHolcim Maroc. However, in the year to date deliveries contracted by 3.1 per cent to 5,276,337t when compared with January-May 2021 when deliveries reached 5,446,117t.

Morocco’s market contracts 23% in April

Moroccan cement deliveries by Asment Temara ( Votorantim Cimentos ), Ciments de l'Atlas ( Addoha Group ), Ciments du Maroc ( HeidelbergCement Group ) and LafargeHolcim Maroc ( Holcim ) contracted by 22.8 per cent to 902,513t in April 2022 when compared with 1,169,122t in April 2021, according to Morocco’s cement association, APC. In the first four months of 2022 cement deliveries slipped by 5.1 per cent YoY to 4.331Mt from 4.563Mt in the January-April 2021 period.

Morocco’s cement market contracted 50.6 per cent in May with 523,848t of cement delivered to domestic customers, according to APC, the country’s cement association. Ciments du Maroc (HeidelbergCement) reported a 9.9 per cent YoY drop in cement sales volumes in the first quarter of 2020 as the coronavirus pandemic affected the market.  The company’s turnover declined 9.8 per cent YoY to MAD869m. Investments in the 1Q20 reached MAD14.8m, up 43.4 per cent when compared with the 1Q19.
