FLSmidth records 19% rise in 1Q order intake

FLSmidth reported a 19 per cent increase in order intake for 1Q16 to DKK5.281bn (US$797m), mainly due to the receipt of a large order in a quarter which is usually quiet. Revenue fell by 20 per cent in January with the recovery in February and March unable to offset the drop. Total revenues for the quarter reached DKK3.758bn, down from DKK4.683bn a year ago. FLSmidth’s order intake and revenue showed solid growth in the second quarter of this year supported by currency developments. However, the company noted that the outlook for the global mining industry has deteriorated in recent weeks, which has had an adverse impact on management's assessment of business risks and earnings in 2015. FLSmidth concludes Cembrit sale

FLSmidth has now successfully closed the divestment of Cembrit to Solix Group AB, to sell all shares in Cembrit Holding A/S at a price of DKK1.1bn (enterprise value on a debt-free basis). Cembrit is one of the leading distributors and manufacturers of fibre-cement products in Europe. The deal was initially announced in mid-January 2015 and concludes FLSmidth's divestment of building materials companies.

FLSmidth has signed an agreement with a company in the Solix Group AB to sell all shares in Cembrit Holding A/S, one of the leading distributors and manufacturers of fibre-cement products in Europe, for DKK1.1bn (EUR147.9m). FLSmidth has announced a number of organisational structure changes, as well as adjustments to the Group Executive Management. The new organisation will consist of the four divisions. Cementir Holding's turnover improved by 1.3 per cent to  EUR988.6m, while at constant currencies the increase would have been 5.6 per cent.
