Azerbaijan sees cement production down 8% in 2020

The value of construction materials produced in Azerbaijan has been estimated at AZN718.9m (US$422m) for 2020, largely consistent with the previous year, according to the State Statistics Committee (SSC). The preliminary report shows a 7.5 per cent YoY decline in cement production to 3.226Mt. However, ready-mix production was up 6.5 per cent to 2.024Mt.

Ukrainian court dismisses claim to cancel anti-dumping duties

Ukraine’s District Administrative Court of Kyiv has reportedly dismissed the claim of the managing company of Belarusian Cement Co and its local importers regarding the cancellation of anti-dumping duties on cement imports into Ukraine, established by the Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade in May 2019. Steppe Cement sees revenue up 1% in 2020

Kazakhstan’s Steppe Cement has reported a one per cent increase in revenue to KZT30.96bn (US$73.59m) in its preliminary update for 2020. However, cement sales volumes declined 4.1 per cent YoY to 1.645Mt from 1.715Mt in 2019. The average ex-factory price in 2020 reached KZT15,760/t, compared with KZT14,885/t in the previous year. LafargeHolcim has announced the appointment of Bogdan Dobre as its new CEO for Romania and country head for Moldova effective from 1 January   2021. Angarskiy Cement Co begins work to improve energy supply

Russia’s Angarskiy Cement Co, part of Siberian Cement Co, has begun works to improve its energy supply. As such, it has started the construction of a 335m cable overpass from its Tsemzavod substation to a transformer substation. Turkey cement exports reach US$1bn in 2020

Turkey has exported nearly US$1bn of cement in 2020, amounting to 30Mt, according to Tamer Saka, the chairman of the Turkish Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMB). Georgia manufactured 1.06Mt of cement worth GEL152m (US$46.2m) in January-June 2020, down 6.2 per cent YoY from 1.13Mt in the year-ago period, according to GBC News. The country also imported 570,000t of cement in the first nine months of 2020.
