The Antimonopoly Committee of Uzbekistan intends to simplify the imports of cement. Steppe Cement of Kazakhstan reports that it sold 764,752t of cement in the 1H20 for KZT13,677m (US$33.24m), down from 780,315t for KZT10,079m in 1H19. This represents a decline of two per cent in volume and three per cent in turnover. The average price of cement in the 1H20 was KZT17,884/t, excluding VAT, compared to KZT18,042/t in the 1H19. Belarusian Cement Co sees sales rise 105% in 5M20

Belarusian Cement Co produced 1.835Mt of cement in the January-May 2020 period, an increase of 104.7 per cent YoY. Total domestic sales also advanced 112.1 per cent YoY. Belarusian Cement Mill dispatched 656,600t of cement (up 3.6 per cent YoY), including 407,800t of domestic sales (up 13.8 per cent). The President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, has signed resolutions authorising the Ministry of Industry and Construction Production to finalise contracts for the second phase of construction on two cement plants. Tajikistan exports 0.5Mt of cement in Jan-May

In the 5M20 Tajikistan produced over 1.5Mt of cement and exported 0.5Mt of this output, according to Avesta. The largest share of exports, 238,300t, was supplied to Uzbekistan, with an additional 227,200t to Afghanistan and 34,100t to Kyrgyzstan. Total cement exports were valued at US$20.5m.

Jan-May exports from Turkey up 37%

In the January-May 2020 cement and clinker exports from Turkey surged 37 per cent to 9.8Mt, according to the Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association (TÇMB). CRH Romania reported a turnover of RON1.1bn (US$257.45m) in 2019, a 15 per cent YoY increase compared to the previous year, according to data published on Ministry of Finance's website. The company's profit exceeded RON100m, while the number of employees remained flat at around 720. The company has two cement factories in the country.

Steppe Cement has released its annual results for 2019 and records a net profit of US$9.7m. EBITDA increased to US$23.9m from US$21.4m in 2018 aided by higher prices.
