CRH releases 2015 sustainability report

CRH has launched its 2015 Sustainability Report that covers 84 pages on how it approaches sustainability, health and safety, environment and climate change, governance as well as people and community.  In the 84-page report the company highlights that 1.6Mt of alternative fuels provided 30 per cent of its cement plant fuel requirements during 2015, while the company’s water intake has fallen by 65 per cent through recycling. Japan's Taiheiyo Cement will construct a biomass-fired unit with 75MW in Ofuna Factory, Iwate prefecture. The new unit is understood to burn domestic and imported biomass fuel. Pakistan: Environment agency orders two plant closures

Pakistan’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has ordered two cement plants to close for filing to install measures to control dust emissions, according to reports in the local press. The plants affected belong to Dewan Cement and Kohat Cement. A spokesperson for the EPA said that both companies had been told to act to curb dust pollution but not done so to date.
