Votorantim to invest in energy efficiency at Toral de los Vados plant11 January 2023, Published under Cement NewsIn line with Votorantim ’s Sustainability 2030 commitments, the company is investing EUR15m to improve the energy efficiency of the Toral de los Vados factory in Spain. With this investment Votorantim expect to reduce the plant's electricity consumption by seven per cent, equivalent to the average annual consumption of 1600 homes, in addition to reducing the use of fossil fuels, mainly petcoke. |

Cement demand fell by 1.8 per cent YoY in November 2022, despite the previous month being the strongest October since 2015. Holcim US runs 38 per cent of production from wind power30 December 2022, Published under Cement NewsHolcim US has signed a virtual PPA with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) for renewable energy generation, according to a report from Euromoney. The ERCOT VPPA reports mean at least 38 per cent of Holcim's total energy consumption at their production units in Texas now comes from wind generation, as the company moves ahead with its decarbonisation strategy.
